About Mid-Shore Pro Bono Inc.
Mid-Shore Pro Bono Inc., was established as a pilot project in July 2005 to address the need for increased pro bono legal representation in the Mid-Shore region. Its formation is the result of the Local Pro Bono Committees from Caroline, Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne’s and Talbot Counties joining efforts with the Circuit Courts from these counties to effectuate each of their respective Pro Bono Plans. Each of these five (5) pro bono committees had individually identified the need for a pro bono referral agency, located and operated regionally.
This resulting regional effort was not coincidental, but generally facilitated by the Standing Committee on Pro Bono Legal Services and supported by the Pro Bono Resource Center of Maryland (PBRC). The Standing Committee, staffed by PBRC, organized a regional meeting of all pro bono providers and organizations in January of 2005 to explore how efforts might be coordinated on a regional basis.
The result, Mid-Shore Pro Bono Inc., is the first regional pro bono referral agency in the State and the only pro bono referral agency located on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Mid-Shore Pro Bono, Inc. is dedicated to providing free or reduced fee legal services to low income families on the Mid-Shore.
